What we do
Operating as a regional hub, SERVIR-Tropical South America promotes collaboration among governments, universities, non-governmental organizations, community groups, and scientists. Our goal is to improve local capacity to harness satellite data and geospatial information to foster multifunctional landscapes throughout South America. We are part of the SERVIR Global Collaborative.
Service Areas
Agriculture and Food Security
We partner with countries to strengthen food security and climate-resilient agriculture by using satellite data, GeoAI, and local expertise to estimate yields, map conditions, and assess risks for informed decisions.
Ecosystems
We help partners monitor and sustainably manage natural resources with Earth observation, GeoAI, and field data. Our locally driven solutions track ecosystem dynamics, support nature-based finance and policy, and strengthen MRV systems. We also promote multifunctional landscapes, integrating conservation, agriculture, and livelihoods, to enhance resilience and optimize land use across diverse ecological and social contexts.
Weather Resilience
SERVIR-Tropical South America helps countries and communities prepare for and respond to climate hazards by combining satellite monitoring, local observations, and predictive models to strengthen early warning and risk management.
Water Security
We advance reliable and equitable access to water through monitoring solutions that track both quantity and quality of water resources. Our platforms help partners sustainably manage surface and groundwater, plan for seasonal variability, and strengthen climate resilience in water supply systems.
Air Quality and Health
The SERVIR Global Collaborative’s regional hubs deliver solutions to track environmental conditions affecting public health. This includes monitoring the sources and spread of air pollution, identifying vulnerable populations, and supporting actions that protect health and contribute to climate change mitigation.
